BET prepping for litigation

Just received a new letter to the editor from the group Barrington for Equitable Taxes. It looks like they're getting ready to file suit against the town — I'm hearing it will be official in about two weeks — over the Vision revaluation. BET members had hinted at litigation during the March 12 and April 23 meetings, but now they're asking for any interested residents to contact them in regards to the suit. So now we'll have residents paying money to sue the town, which will use taxpayers' money to battle the issue in court...

  1. Josh is right, taxpayer money to fight a crime against the residents of Barrington perpetrated by it's armchair leadership, newbie tax assessor, and play along town manager (gee, you mean I was supposed to manage this situation?). Ok what crime? There are both legal requirements on how to do a statistical study, and then there is the fundamental framework of what a statistical study is in the first place. The laws were ignored leaving the newbie tax assessor to run amok on territory he did not fully understand and where he lacked the jurisdiction to supplement what should have been a real statistical study replaced with an "I want to do it my way" revaluation" (loaded with "my way" errors). Taxpayers pay their public servants to do a professional job, not to make things up as they go along. Welcome to Barrington Mike!
